Memories of a Mayoff Wedding

by Cliff Gerstman (Ush)

Laurie Bleich and I were married on September 9th, 19XX. The wedding ceremony was held at Temple Beth Am, with three Rabbis officiating. The reception was held at the nearby Los Angeles Ramada. Among our many guests were Abe and Ann (Mayoff) Morantz, Esther Mayoff, Rhona and Richard Pervin and Viv and Felice Heller. I had been surprised by the number of Montreal cousins that had flown out, but later realized that was no surprise. We are Mayoffs after all. Esther, at the age of 92 demonstrated her sharp as a tack memory when she clearly remembered when we first met years earlier when I was a pre-schooler. Next she displayed her fine skill as a character analyst. She took Laurie by the hand and commented on what a fine match we were. Are you aware that both Esther and I are members of the elite group of "Blue-eyed Mayoffs?" [So am I, Cliff - Art] I was honored to see Abe and Ann Mayoff Morantz. Sadly, it was the last time I would see Ann but I'm happy to say all my memories of her are good ones. I cannot tell you enough about how proud I am to be from a family that places such value on family. We will continue the dynasty with pride.
